Alicante’s Oktoberfest celebrations attended by 25,000 people
Alicante Port has celebrated one of the most popular events in their version of the Munich Oktoberfest and this event has drawn nearly 25,000 guests. On the first day of this world’s largest fair, it had rained but the temperatures went up by the end of the festival, making the locals and the holiday makers to enjoy the fair.
Held every year during the months of September and October, this Oktoberfest is a very popular sixteen day festival that plays a key part in the Bavarian culture. After the Munich event, this festival is also celebrated by several other cities in the world in their own versions.
The visitors of this event are offered with huge amounts of traditional and delicious food dishes like chicken, sausages, grilled fish on a stick, roast pork, cheese noodles, potato pancakes, spiced cheese-butter concoction, dessert of apple pie, and other Bavarian dishes.
One of the organizers of this festival Miguel Huerta has said that “Beer has the leading role in this gastronomic festival with the brand Veltins which is absolutely sugar free, handmade, and naturally fermented.” Huerta added that “we have offered good food and fun and the people left happy with a wish to return.”
“The main attractions of the event included the waiters and waitresses in traditional costumes and live music” said Huerta.

Airport Authorities to soundproof homes located near Alicante Airport
The Spanish Airport Authority, AENA has stated that it will finance the sound proofing of the 1,400 newly built homes that are adjacent to the El Altet Airport which is in Alicante.
Alejandro Perez, the councilor for town planning at the Alicante City Hall has confirmed the news by giving details about some of the residents who are affected by this problem.
The acoustic fingerprint of the airport, generally in El Altet itself, will be extended, although also to include parts of Torrellano and Urbanova.
Until now the airport authority with a cost of nearly €29 million, has sound proofed 693 homes that are present in the region.
The residents who can benefit in that area will be given a letter through the post notifying them of the measures to be taken.
At the airport, to inspect that aircrafts sticks to takeoff paths and landing, new monitoring equipment is being fixed, which is already operated in Malaga and Palma.
Within a year, the arrangement will be totally operational and if any aircraft is found to wander away from the official paths, then the company will have to deal with a fin.
